This fall I will have a Kindergartner and I’m thinking of ways to help make the mornings go smooth to start the day off positive. My children are both early risers so time shouldn’t be a problem (unless they decide to sleep in everyday). Honestly I don’t think they have ever slept past 6:45am so I will be shocked if that becomes an issue. Getting my son to eat breakfast, get dressed and brush his teeth is a trial. He will honestly stay in his pajamas all day (it’s Saturday at 5:03pm and he’s still in pajamas). School starts in about 6 weeks so we are starting this on Monday. I created a simple Kids Morning Checklist using my Cricut Maker.

Let’s Create a Kids Morning Checklist

In Cricut Design Space™ I found a shirt, toothbrush, and a muffin to use. It was really hard to find a muffin image, it kinda looks like a cupcake, but the kids love mini muffins for breakfast. If you want to trick your kids to eat veggies or healthy food, mini muffins are the way to go.

The base of the project will be an 8×11 piece of card stock. I used vinyl for the words and some of the small elements on the designs. Vinyl on paper can be tricky, as you can see breakfast is a little slanted, but it started to rip so I left it as is (My son won’t care, but it’s driving me crazy so I will fix it). I used magnets on the pictures for either side of the chart. The picture will be on the right (in the morning) and when they complete the task they move it to the end of the rectangle or over top of the words. This will be placed on the refrigerate where it will be easy for the munchkins to use.

Creating a simple checklist with the Cricut Maker was easy. This can be done for bed time, chores, or after school. To give my children ownership over this morning checklist, I let them choose the colors and decorate it by their name. Check out these Hanger Tags I created so the kids can pick out their clothes once a week and put the hanger tags on them for the week ahead.

Have you ever used a morning checklist for your children?
